 I REMEMBER AMERICA WHEN

 I remember America when

doors were never kept locked and

guns were never kept cocked.

I remember America when

everyone waved and said hi,

when people thought it

was wrong to steal and lie.

I remember America when in

school we pledge allegiance

to this big cloth our grandparents

cherished so dear

I remember America when

kids went to school without

fear, parents not worrying if

a predator was near.

  I remember America when

kids got pop only on Friday

night and loved to watch TV

in black and white.

I remember America when

on every porch flew this big cloth

that was red, white and blue,

I remember America when

at games everyone would stand

and wave that same Stars and

Stripes cloth on a little stick

and dad would call me his sidekick

I remember America when

mom would holler time to eat

and we'd all sit at a big round

table kick each others feet and

pray before we eat

I remember America when

kids loved to go outside to

play and colored pictures

with grandma on a rainy day.

I remember America when

teens showed respect and

never answered their parents

with "what the heck"

I remember America when

kids went to Sunday school then

to grandma's house for apple pie.

I remember America when

grandpa drove his 57 Chevy wearing

his red, white and blue tie.

 I remember America when

stamped on everything was the

words that would so proudly say:

I REMEMBER AMERICA WHEN

it was that way or was it all

just a dream I had one day?
